New Year

Only one workout stands between me and 2015!

As I reflect on 2014, I can’t help but be thrilled about the numerous PRs, 3 half marathons, 3 full marathons AND a first place win at a local 5K. My marathons took me to new territory including Arkansas and Tennessee. I spent valuable time with my family on mini-vacations following races. I joined some new running groups and met a great group of people. I’ve truly been blessed this year.

While I’m not usually a New Years resolutions type-person, I do I have some goals for the upcoming year. Last year, I made it my goal to run 1,500 miles throughout the year. I have completed nearly 1,600 this year!

2015 Goals:

Lift more.
For a long time now I’ve been thinking about incorporating more weightlifting into my routine. I’m currently not marathon training and I know the importance of doing more than cardio day in and day out. I’m hoping to see the results and hope it will also keep me injury-free when I begin training again. My hairstylist is training for a bikini competition and we’ve decided to meet up at the gym to lift together. It’s obvious that I don’t know what I’m doing so I’m so thankful that I have her to show me proper form. I even hit Complete Nutrition for some pre-workout! (Who am I!?) We had our first gym session tonight and we’re meeting up again in the morning for biceps and abs.

Complete two marathons.
I’m currently planning on doing a spring and fall marathon. In the fall I will do the Route 66 Marathon in Tulsa and my spring marathon is still undecided. If you have recommendations, let me know!

Sub-Four hours.
I’m still chasing a sub 4-hour marathon. This is the year.

More random acts of kindness.
Handwritten notes, a smile…whatever it may be—we all need more kindness.

2015: Bring it on!
